President's Message
Olá — I'm Trish Gomes, President of the Portuguese American Civic Association of Union (PACA of Union).
PACA of Union is a welcoming community where everyone is invited to experience and celebrate Portuguese traditions, culture, and food. We open our doors to neighbors, friends, and families—whether you stop by for dinner, join us for Portugal Day Weekend, or attend one of our many events, you’ll find a warm, inclusive place to connect.
Why keeping our traditions alive matters
- Cultural identity: Traditions teach younger generations where we come from and help shape a shared sense of belonging.
- Language & stories: Passing on language, songs, and family stories preserves our history and keeps memories alive.
- Community bonds: Festivals, dinners, and celebrations bring people together across generations and backgrounds.
- Culinary heritage: Our food is a living link to Portugal—sharing meals passes on recipes, techniques, and family customs.
- Representing Portugal: Keeping traditions vibrant ensures our culture continues to be seen, understood, and respected in our broader community.
You don’t have to be Portuguese to join us. Many of our members come from mixed backgrounds, and that diversity enriches our club. Come taste our food, enjoy our music, learn our dances and costumes, and share in the pride of our heritage.
